If you haven’t seen Victors restaurant all over instagram already I don’t know where you’ve been. But is it more than just a pretty restaurant?
The wisteria covered restaurant is so pretty and the vibes are perfect for an evening dinner. (I don’t know if Victors should get the credit for this little fact but there were some very pretty people in the restaurant, just saying.)
The restaurant is inspired by the American Hamptons! Not sure that the Hamptons come to mind for me but hey I appreciate nice flowers as much as the next person!
Victors in Oxford is in Westgate on the rooftop terrace which is well worth a visit in its own right because there are quite a few nice restaurants there like The Alchemist and Pho.
Anyway back to Victors. The food is supposed to be American style. The menu is pretty varied with sushi options, mac n cheese, fish dishes, pastas, pizzas and lots more.
There are sharing plates and small plates so it makes sense to order a few different things and share rather than trying to order individually. Joey doesn’t share food but we all do, right?
I mistakenly ordered the sea bass and it was gross. It had been steamed in a banana leaf. Yeah it tasted as great as it sounds. I only ordered it on Rumi’s recommendation, that was the last time I ever listened to her advice.
The sushi was much nicer, we ordered the tiger prawn rolls.
Credit where credit is due the manager took our orders of sea bass off the bill because our barely touched plates may have suggested we didn’t like it!
For dessert we had a chocolate tarte which was delicious.
I’d definitely go back again. The vibe, or should I say the ambience, was very nice. The food… I think I just ordered badly. Maybe I’ll try a pizza or pasta in the future! Have you been? If you have, what do you recommend?
