The Ivy finally came to Birmingham earlier this year and I couldn’t be happier. Is it as good as its London counterparts?
I’d say so! Obviously the restaurants in London are a bit more of a novelty purely because of their location. I love my home town (obvie) but I’m under no illusions, it’s not quite London now is it.
It’s on Temple Row in Birmingham which is home to a lot of nice restaurants so it fits in well.
Visiting places like The Ivy isn’t just about the food for me. I like pretty decor and a nice ambiance. The Ivy Temple Row ticks both of those boxes. It’s decorated in The Ivy’s signature green with marble floors and plants to accent. The linens are crisp and luxurious, even the bathrooms are fancy! You know they’re fancy when you don’t have paper towels to wipe your hands with but actual hand towels. It’s the little things.
The menu is varied. You’ve got all sorts, breakfast, lunch, brunch and afternoon tea. I’m such an afternoon tea fiend but I had breakfast at The Ivy. I ordered Eggs Royale because erm… of the high protein content? Let’s ignore the carbs they were served with.
Would I go back? Yes definitely. Maybe not for breakfast though because getting up early on the weekend isn’t a problem for me but I have lazy friends (ahem Lana). I might try Afternoon Tea next time and see how it compares to The Ritz and Three Church Road!
